The CRFB was reformed at the end of July 2004 by a group of local republicans who thought it was time this stronghold had a republican band again. In the 70's, 80's and 90's the area was represented by many bands such as The Coatbridge Harp, the Vol. John 'Bap' Kelly, The Brave Tom Williams, the Vol. Bobby Sands and the Coatbridge RFB.

The time was right to reform one of them. Coatbridge already had hundreds of members within their cumann as part of Cairde na h√Čireann, the national structure for republicans in Scotland. It was only natural that a band should be formed to compliment that cumann. At the very first meeting more than 30 people turned up to join and by the 2nd week that number rose to 50.

The Coatbridge Republican Flute Band are currently recruiting new members! If you are interested in joining the band please contact one of our members via facebook or email. You do not need to have any prior music skills as all tuition will be given through the band!
